Try my Lasagne!

If you hate tomatoes, but love lasagne, then this is the recipe for you! :)  Lasagne without tomatoes is yummy rich and satisfying, you're going to want to eat it for breakfast the next day!

-  A box of lasagne sheets
-  a packet of mince (I normally use to packets of mince when I'm cooking in bulk)
-  two white onions
-  a tin of tomato puree
-  2 tsp olive oil
-  lasagne sauce (this can be bought at any local supermarket)
-  Tart pan or casserole dish with a fairly descent thickness of around 1-2 inches

Prep and cooking time: 1 hour

1.  Put olive oil in a frying pan over moderate heat and add onions.
2.  Cook onions until they go transparent, not until they are brown.
3.  Add mince, add cook until browned.
4.  Add tomato puree, turn hob down to a lower heat.
5.  In a saucepan, heat up lasagne sauce.
6.  Layer the bottom of your casserole dish with your mince, tomato puree and onions.
7.  Next put a layer of lasagne sheets over the top.
8.  Cover lasagne sheets with the lasagne sauce and repeat step 6, 7 and 8 until you run out of mince and lasagne sauce.  You should be left with lasagne sauce at the top, sprinkle your grated cheese over the top and put in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 mins.

Blue Cheese Sauce

Here is a recipe that is truly yummy :)  If you're not really a gravy person, but love cheese, you can now have an alternative sauce with your roast dinners!

All you need is two simple ingredients:
-  A cup full of single cream
-  Some blue cheese

prep and cooking time, 5-10 mins

1.  Put single cream in a saucepan and put over a moderate heat.
2.  Blue cheese is usually crumbly, so you won't have any problems adding the blue cheese to the sauce.  Add slowly whilst continually stirring the single cream.
3.  Add all blue cheese to saucepan, melt and stir combining it with the single cream.
4.  Once hot and blue cheese completely melted, serve over cauliflower and serve with other meat and vegetables.

This sauce is so yummy, easy and quick to do and tastes so great!  You're going to want it again and again!


I've found something truly AMAZING!

Crustless Quiche

Hello again everyone!

Wait until you try this recipe, it's awesome!  Don't be put off by the title, because honestly, once you have a taste of the crustless quiche, you won't want to go back to the normal quiche!

This is another super easy recipe!
Prep and cook time: 20 mins
Bake time: 1 hour or until browned on the top.
6-8 servings

-  110 g (4oz) bacon, this can be either streaky or back bacon
-  1/2 white onion, thinly sliced
-  6 eggs
-  170 ml (6 fl oz) whipping cream (double cream can also be used)
-  570 g frozen chopped broccoli or spinach, thawed and squeezed dry (mushrooms can also be used as a yummy alternative)
-  225 g (8oz) Gruyere cheese, shredded (or any of your own choices of cheese can be used)
-  1/2 teaspoon salt
-  1/4 teaspoon pepper

1.  Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees (gas mark 4)  Butter a 25 cm (10-inch) tart pan
2.  In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp.  Drain on kitchen paper, coarsely chop.
3.  Remove all but 1 tablespoon bacon drippings from frying pan.  Add onion and cook 5 mins, until softened but not brown.  In a large bowl, combine eggs, cream, broccoli, cheese, salt and pepper.  Stir in bacon and onion.
4.  Pour mixture into prepare pan.  Bake 1 hour, until browned, or until a knife inserted in centre comes out clean.  Cool for 5 mins before cutting into wedges.

You'll love this and want to cook it time and time again!  I hope you enjoy this yummy quiche as much as I do! :)

Death by chocolate cheesecake

This is a really yummy recipe, that's very easy to make.

Prep time: 30
  • 1No - Fresh Double Cream 300ml
  • 1No - 5 or 6 digestive biscuits
  • 1No - Galaxy Milk Chocmilk Chocolate 125g
  • 1No - White Chocolate (Milky Bar) or equivalent weight of 125g in smaller bars will do.

NB: You also need something to quickly dip the bottom layer of biscuits in. I used forest fruits cordial but anything like that should suffice.
1. Firstly you layer the bottom of the bowl with the biscuits youve dipped also going one row around the edge. Put that to one side for now.
2. Then secondly you need to melt the choc, adding almost half to each. I generally add a little more to the dark choc so say a 175ml to 125mm split of the cream.
3. Melt the choc slowly tho as it will burn if you microwave it for too long. 30 second blitzes should do the trick until it starts to melt.
4. Add the cream a little at a time until nice and smooth, shouldnt be too runny.

5. Add a small amount of the dark choc/cream to the bowl to cover the layer of biscuits.

6. Do exactly the same with the white chocolate and cream as above.

7. Alternate the dark chocolate and white chocolate until you run out, place in fridge until the chocolate solidifies and serve chilled.

Kebab salad

Hello All,

I have discovered a fantastic recipe that is quick, easy and so yummy! :)

My husband calls it Kebab salad. Here's what you do:
(prep and cooking time 5-10 mins)

1. A cup of mince
2. Olive oil
3. A tbsp of chillies or mixed spices
4. One spring onion finely chopped
5. a handful of lettuce
6. one stick of celery chopped
7. a wedge of cucumber
8. salad dressing

-heat up some olive oil in a saucepan, add your mince.
-Add your chillies or mixed spices to the saucepan and mix while heating until the mince has browned.
-Put salad on a plate and sprinkle over the chopped celery, cucumber and spring onion, garnish with a salad dressing. Thousand Island is very tasty as is garlic and herb.
-once mince has browned, place on top of salad and serve.

working from home

I don't know about the rest of you, but do you find that your bored with your jobs? The same old thing day in and day out? Long hours, sat in traffic to and from work. The office is just tedious, answering the same phone, the same queries, the same one hour lunch break, the same paperwork, the same productivity to reach everyday.

Well, I have a desire of working from home, part time. Money is not an easy thing to accumulate, unless you work really hard for it. I'd love to work part-time, earn the same money if not more than I'm on now, but to be able to do that working from home. So, I had the notion to search online for some of the jobs that are currently available. Let me tell you that there are hundreds and hundreds of them. The bad news is, they are also in it for themselves and if you are unfortunate enough as to stumble upon the thousands of "money making from the comfort of your own home" websites, they tell you that you are able to earn thousands of pounds a month without doing any more than a few hours work per day. Don't get sucked in!!!!

They wave the carrot your way, provide the convincer and then the scam. You have to pay an admin fee. Honestly, if these guys are earning that much every month then why the admin fee. Surely they can give it to you for free? Whether it's £1.95 to join or £40.00, either way, you don't get anything for free. Don't do what I did and spend an entire evening trawling through websites to try and find a way to work from home and end up following some endless trail of pointless adverts that ask you to pay out money before you earn it. The best website I have come across so far is Working Mums..

Prawn Foo Young

Prawn foo young is very easy to make, cheap and quick. Not to mention tasty and filling. Prawn foo young can be made with any of the ingredients that you like and my husband goes crazy for it! Generally you put peas, onions and prawns in the foo young.

For 2 people you will need:
(cooking and prep time usually takes about 5 mins)
4-6 eggs
a handful of prawns
1/2 onion, chopped
2 tbsp peas, cooked prior

  1. Put a small amount of olive oil or butter into a frying pan over a moderate heat.
  2. Add your prawns to the pan.
  3. Crack and whisk eggs in a cup or bowl before adding to the pan.
  4. Once your whisked eggs have been added, add all other ingredients
  5. keep your pan on the heat until foo young has lightly browned and flip
  6. repeat and serve

Hello!!!! I am Sammy.

In search of a hobby and after expending hours and hours of my time trying to find something where I could do something creative, fun, relaxing and imaginative....looking for something cheap as well as close to home....well, let's just say it was challenging. Then my lovely mum-in-law suggested cooking! Great idea!!!! Being a lover of food anyway, trying something different and experimentation I decided to give it a try :) Even better, my hubby decided to go on a diet and not just any diet...the Atkins diet! As I have never been on a diet before in my life, I decided to see what my husband meant by serious cravings (not the kind you experience when you desperately need a chocolate bar!) I mean SERIOUS cravings.

Before I start talking about my hobby and love of cooking, let me first explain the Atkins diet. It's a diet where you eat like a KING (or queen) and you loose weight! Say goodbye to low fat meals that take weight loss ages to start....on the Atkins diet, you need to be committed to staying on it for a minimum of two weeks. First day is fine, you've swapped your bread, cakes, chocolate, crisps, potatoes, pasta, fruit and biscuits for meat, cheese, salad, green vegetables, eggs and fish, the second day, you think how nice it would be to eat a blueberry muffin (that was my problem anyway) by the third day your gagging for a bag of chips, not just gagging even, by this point, your willing to pay £100 for a cake!

All i can say at this point and stress really heavily is DON'T WHATEVER YOU DO GIVE UP!!!!! The third day is always the worst, but trust me if you keep to what your allowed to eat by day 4 or 5 depending on the person, it is not uncommon to wake up with a feeling of euphoria. I'm not kidding! Day 4, I woke up at 8am and practically jumped out of bed, feelings of tiredness and fatigue-gone-overnight! I felt really great, my skin had cleared up, I felt amazing, felt like I could do anything and I no longer had any cravings for carbs.

One week after starting the Atkins diet, my husband lost 1 stone and a half and I myself lost a stone! The weight is literally dropping off my husband, he's thrilled and at the same time I am cooking. On the atkins diet you are allowed a fried breakfast-who knew? No need to feel guilt as it helps you LOOSE weight. You are also allowed a kebab! However, do take care not to eat the pitta bread and accompanying tomatoes.

Ever feel like you just can't be bothered to cook? The option to pop to your local supermarket and grab a hot chicken is also available.

I am pleased to say that the two week finish line is there in plain sight, just two days away!
